Erika Connelly has been a West Virginia public library director for over twenty-five years and is currently the Library Director for the Kanawha County Public Library system, headquartered in Charleston, WV. Her passion for public service, providing excellent customer care, and cultivating imaginative programming started in rural West Virginia public libraries, stepping into several directorships, and board roles in state associations. She has been influenced over the years by her many relationships with North Central WV libraries. She enjoys traveling, learning new technologies, and brainstorming with other librarians to push the boundaries of the modern public library patron experience. She has a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Fairmont State College and an MLIS from the University of South Carolina.

Peter BolekAIA, President and Director of Design, HBM Architects
As President and Director of design for HBM Architects, Peter Bolek is the heart of the firm’s collaborative working model taking an active role in both strategic and detailed design solutions in the studio. His passion lies in the belief that in addition to solving complex and pragmatic needs of a client’s program, design has the transformative power to enhance our everyday life experiences. Peter provides design leadership and insight into all the firm’s projects, as well as acting as the project designer on the firm’s most significant projects.
Peter has more than 20 years of experience with public sector clients and has participated in and orchestrated all facets of feasibility studies, programming, planning, design and construction of library projects across the country.
With a strong emphasis on sustainability and the integration of LEED ideas and components, the firm’s designs include multifaceted solutions spanning many styles from historic to contemporary and have been recognized by the American Institute of Architects, Association of Licensed Architects, Library Journal Magazine, and American Libraries Magazine for excellence in design. In addition to quality design solutions, Peter endeavors to adapt each project appropriately to its community, function, and site. Using design charrettes, he works through a collaborative process with the firm’s clients resulting in completed projects that fit perfectly within their communities.
