Leading with Ergonomics: Supporting Employee Health and Wellness in the Library
An academic library at a large (R1) institution fosters employee well-being through a Library Ergonomics Committee, a deeply ingrained part of the library’s’ organizational culture.
This presentation will discuss the role of the committee in fostering workplace wellness and inclusivity, and supporting accessible and functional work spaces. We will also review the practical aspects of training, procedures and policy creation, and administration of both the committee and its recommendations. Case studies of ergonomic issues in the institution’s workplace will be provided with examples of common workspace challenges, employee needs and their potential solutions.
