The Future of the Library Technology Career Jumpstart Program
The Library Technology Career Jumpstart Program is a free, immersive, week-long, virtual experience targeted to first year LIS students and is designed to confront the challenge of recruiting diverse candidates for technical positions in libraries. Program objectives include raising awareness about career opportunities in technical librarianship, creating a welcoming and inclusive space where a diverse cohort can learn from each other, and imparting concrete strategies for learning technical skills. This presentation will report on assessment efforts, introduce our how-to guide for planning similar programs at other institutions, and offer ideas about potential future directions for the program.
